At the moment, im powering my OC'd 290X just by the 1x cable, that has got 2x PCI-E 6+2 Pins on it, but im now thinking about running it from 2x seperate ones, as i'll in there tomorrow giving it a clean, so just wondered if it would be better, will it be spreading the load, or would it not matter, seen as my PSU is a single 12v rail ?

I know some have said they can burn out using just singles, but ive always powered it via the 1x cable, and never had an issue, but i don't want any either :p

I would personally use both cables

in my none professional evaluation of the situation

if the one cable is getting x amount of watts through it
the two cables will be getting the same x amount of watts

surely this may help the longevity of the cables health?

Or I could just be being stupid.

Yeah i was thinking about the load going through the 1x cable, has to be better spread over 2x, so ive popped another one on, thanks. :)

Needed that clean, wasn't that long ago i done it though tbh, but the amount of dust in the filters of my case fans, there must have been hardly any air getting in or out

My card was idling at 52 yesterday (with a fan speed of 21%), its only 47 today (with a fan speed of only 18%) after the clean (idles higher than normal, due to being on 144Hz, so my memory always runs full whack) :D
