how big is CSS to download?

Set CSS downloading now, done maybe 30mb in about 15 mins... pants really, wondering how big this damn thing is - hoping to have it done tonight but guessing thats pretty unlikely.

Anyone know a size in mb? Also what speed is decent off steam - only getting 150k/s

CS:S takes up roughly 1.8Gb but it also shares files with HL2 so i would probably place it closer to the 2.5Gb mark.
 
oh nadgers. Well, cheers im at 70mb done now... css should be done by wednesday next week.

nice name by the way, its like communicating with my conscience. :)
 
Are you installing it or updating it? I found the updates took loads longer than actually downloading/installing it.
 
steam always maxes out my connection, i think the speed problem is at your end

just download 1.6, much better and smaller i think :D
 
I think it's only around 700 - 800MB to download because of Valve's compression system thingy.
 
ive never had a prob :S i install from hl2, update and whilst that goes on, just hop on hl2 lol, after a hour or so, its done and your in the 'og, i just wanna kill someone' mood you wont mind that hour wait

change your connection speed in steam to the highest there is (file/settings/internet/). you don't actually have to have a connection of that speed, but it'll make the app use more bandwidth generally and hopefully improve things for you
