Just a quick question, about to start on a new build, thinking of running Vista Ultimate..

How much space does a clean install of vista ultimate take up? Need to decide on the size of my Raptor :D

mmm... u may have a point,

i just realised that i can buy two 80gbs and RAID 0 them.... might even be faster than a raptor, but double the risk of failure.... anybody any experience?

My Vista partition (Home Premium) is 16GB.

Raptors are a terrific waste of money though tbh.

I agree, a standard 7200rpm provides fast enough speeds from the OS. You can always just have two 500GB drives, first one for OS music and movies, second for games. That way the OS drive is only used for OS and lighter read/writes, but the secondary one is just for games.

I used Maxtor DM10/11 and installed Vista Ultimate x64 into 400GB (free space is 341GB), 2nd drive is 250GB for saving files,etc.. (free space is 219GB) and 3rd drive for my games is 300GB (free space is 272GB) so I have plenty of disk space to use.
