how can i bost my wireless ?

hi all ive got me a D-Link DL-524 and a old p3 laptop (was free)

All is ok getting laptop online but when i go out the room where the router is the wireless signal drops to a point where i dont pick it up even thou am 20-30 feet away

Is this normal? or does having 1/2 foot thick walls not help

Not normal no because I pick up about 10 in my area all my neighbors, Am using a crummy netgear 834g and usb netgear wg111.
All about positioning the router away from windows and as central in your home as you can get and having the antenna pointed toward where you normally use the wireless the most.
Try pointing the aerial toward where you usually go ? or you could try the foil mod ? http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/Ez-10/

got it better now am now on xp and not win 2k

and when i go outside omg i get loads and one unlocked one

Yea but they can see if you are on it, even so very daft.

o yea i know they can see my but its called Default so i dobt they know what there doing
