How can i check whats the maximum ram usage?

Hi
I thinking of upgrading from 2gb to 4gb of ram.

Before deciding i like to find out what is the maximum ram usage. At the moment only 1.1gb of ram is being used. 0.9gb of ram free is a lot is it not?

Are you using Vista? Cos the more you put in the more it will use for caching.
Also, if its an x86 OS - it will only address about 3.25GB.

i have noticed that even xp will use more ram if you have more installed. not like vista does though. vista tryes to use upto half your ram. thats not a bad thing as it keeps your system fast and reduces slower disk access opperations. id get 4gb regardless of the fact your system will only see 3.25-3.75gb. i believe that the system still uses it in some way but i dont recall how.
