Hi guys,
I have overclocked my 2x 5850 to 775/1125, with 32 degree's idle 61 degrees load. with fan speed 49% on both (i know its loud)

Problem is in 2d mode i get stutter when i surf the internet any 2d application. But in 3d mode i have no problems at all.

But when i play low GPU resources in gameplay eg. BF2, I start to get the stutter in game.

Powerplay underclocks the cards to 157mhz GPU 300mhz core clock,
i dont care about power saving because iam not paying for it :) lol

How can i disable this powerplay? Ive tried rivatuner and i cant access any of the overclock settings.

Hope someone can help :)

Thanks Stefan

Sounds odd, can't say I've ever seen my cards downclock in a non intensive game (like your BF2 for example)

What drivers are you running?

Yeah BF2 GPU usage on my 5870 is around 10%, flying high up is around 2%, this causes major stutter with the clocks bouncing up and down, I play with vsync on and even the XML file clock hack does not fix the stuttering with vsnyc on. Windows XP is 99% GPU usage for some reason and BF2 is perfect on there, Windows7/Vista and 5000 cards suck with BF2.

raise the core clock? 1mhz? do you mean? but still powerplay will still kick in.

I need to find a way how to disable it OR clock my 2d settings the same as 3D. :)

AMD GPU tool breaks power play, raise 1MHZ using AMD GPU tool...
It's what us 5870 launch owners did before we flashed the cards and MSI afterburner came out.

raven it works! So what do i do now lol :) just increase engine by 1mhz?

Indeed.
GPU Clock/Engine. It will break powerplay, which is why many of us flashed our cards with ASUS BIOS's.
Assuming you're not using an Asus BIOS, put it 1MHZ past the CCC limit, is how I think it breaks Powerplay.

and then go back into ATI control panel and then overclock it back to 775/1125? :)

ATI control panel is reading its GPU clock is at 158mhz 300mhz, but it is at 775/1125mhz i guess

And the 2d stuttering is gone! woohoo it really annoyed me in windows, whenever i dragged something around something will stutter :)
