I have a Linksys WRT54GS v4 router on NTL 10meg and I get the full bandwidth.!!

However 'Be' are in my area and I'd like to know what sort of speed I could expect from where I am in relation to the exchange, is there anything on the router that can help my get a better idea? Be are saying roughly upto 11meg?

Cheers ;)

im in exactly the same scenario

in a LLU'd exchange and in a telewest area

so i can have 10mb for £27.50/month

or possibly Be's 24mb service for £25

but unless you have an ADSL modem and line with which to test SNR line attenuation etc.. there is no way of checking :(

as i'm 1.7km from the exchange as the crow files, im sticking with Telewest

DOH!!

Though someone said there was a program within the router to get that info? Oh well....

I'm 1.33km as the crow fly's !!!!

May have a word with my next dorr neighbour and see if they have BB and whether I can jump on and text theirs?

Is there a good program or specific way I can test the SNR?

Sorry always been on cable so not up to speed with this ADSL stuff ;)

there is a program in the router

once you've got ADSL installed and have an ADSL line into check it with

but by the time that arrives, you've already paid installation and got tied into a contract.

ADSL doesnt just plug straight into the phone line, stuff needs to be enabled at the other end first.

its just unfortunate you cant check all of that untill you actually have the ADSL installed by which time you've already made your decision as to whether to install it lol

Yeah its a bit of a pickle tbh

Hmmm may wait for NTL 20meg and see what thats like, if upload goes up and I still get nearly full download I may be best to stay put!
