Hey everyone, thought i'd open a thread to see if anyone had any suggestions about how i can get fiber optic internet in my area.

So the street i live in can not get fiber optic, But across the street from where i live they can get fiber optic. I went on openreach website and the box is fiber optic enabled i just can't get it.

Uswitch says i can get fiber but when i call B.T they say no so not sure why Uswitch thinks i can get fiber.

It's just my street that can't obtain fiber optic for whatever reason....

We signed up for the cable my area years and years ago and call B.T/SKY a lot to see if we can get fiber in our street yet, still no plans.

I got my neighbours to sign my petition saying that they also want fiber optic in our area.

So we had a page full of neighbours signing it saying that they were also interested 30+ easy and got no response from it. I don't know what else i can do to try and get fiber in my area.

Any suggestions?

If your cabinet is fibre enabled is it because it's at capacity that you can't sign up? What do BT actually say if you have a fibre cabinet in place already?

I feel your pain. If I lived 50M down the road I could have it but because I live where I do I cannot have it. They have not cabled the cabinet at the end of our street and Openreach say they have no plans to do so.
Virgin are coming to our village next year but we won't be able to get that either because I'm on a 'not fully adopted' road and they won't dig those up.

I talked to the Customer Service on the phone and they don't even know why they can't give me fiber optic. Guess he's just reading off a script, i asked to speak to someone that could help me and no luck.

I really don't know as the cabinet is fiber enabled according to the website at least. :(

Post the screenshot from the DSL checker page listed above (make sure you crop out your phone number / address) and we will be able to advise.

Hope this helps

It's the exact situation with me.. all the houses around me have got fibre, but my block (ex-council) is out of luck. I suspect it's due to the wiring, but a bit annoying when all the other cabinets in the area are enabled.
