properly investigate why my e-mails have have slumped from about 30 per day to about 2.
I'm getting no subscription notifications from any forum despite many postings to my subscribed threads.

Daily digests from forums are not appearing and test e-mails my son sends to me from his gmail account do not appear.

I called them yesterday and just because 1 topic reply notification came through they denied anything was wrong.

I'm getting really fed with them and would be grateful for any suggestions.

Are you running any anti-spam software that could be junking your e-mails?

I use mailwasher to see whats on the server first and then use the filters I've set to discard junk etc.

Nope, use NOD32. This is only just starting to happen after many years of Virgin media(actually Blueyonder)

You can look at the contents of your mailbox with:

http://www.mail2web.com/

This might help you diagnose your problem, as you will be able to see whether mail is not getting to your mailbox or whether it's a problem between the mailbox and your computer.

They may have changed their Junk mail rules , have a look at the junkmail folder using the Virgin webmail system.

Possibly because the Virgin email servers are on many blacklists so that may explain why your emails are getting dumped. Its all over their newsgroups but not a lot gets done.

You could try changing your IP address and see if you get a range that isn't blacklisted!

Change the mac address of your router then reboot your modem

Thats the quick way of doing it - otherwise switch off your modem for 24 hours and hope

Discovered the reason for no emails.
I had re-installed Outlook to access my Contacts list and it was configured to collect mail every 10 minutes.
As the process was running in the background I was lucky to get any mail at all through mailwasher/thunderbird.

Opened up Outlook and there were all my "missing" e-mails! Doh!
thanks for all the advice, a pity none of it required checking my own stupidity.
