How can I improve the interconnectivity of my tech?

Hi all.

At the moment I have a decent pc, a tv, an xbox 360, and a home NAS which I keep films on.

The pc, nas and xbox are connected to my home network via the virgin superhub. If i want to watch a film on the nas i have to do it via the xbox. The pc with two monitors is in the other corner of the room.

I also have a digital piano connected to the pc that has good speakers. So i could for example play music through the piano speakers via the pc.

I was wondering if there is a way I could improve how these things connect together. For example, could i game on the pc but have it output to the tv screen? Could i use the piano to get better sound from films?

I dont know what I dont know, if you see what I mean, so what ideas might I be missing out on?

Plenty of options but I think you're best buying a couple of bits and bobs.

Could run HDMI cable to TV to keep things simple and get a wireless keyboard / mouse and gamepad.

Steam link is cheap for remote PC gaming but is end of life.

A Nvidia shield is a good purchase if you have an Nvidia graphics card for streaming your games.

Get Plex on the case for better movie/video management (clients available for Nvidia shield)

Amazon Fire Stick is worthwhile purchase if you have amazon prime.

Sound through piano would likely be an awful idea as at the very least you need your voice coming from the middle of the screen or everything sound wrong/weird.

This, but with a few caveats:

A FireTV (generation 2 or 4K) will run Plex adequately (as well as many other things), a Shield is unescissary unless you wish to specifically make use of Nvidia’s streaming capabilities or run it as a PMS (should work nicely with the content from the NAS), that said if it’s just NAS content then the FTV will likely play it anyway from Kodi (side load it). You could also consider Alexa or Google home (more Alexa if you have Prime/like more skills).

Ignore the keyboard speakers, it’s a horrible idea unless you are sat in front of it - audio stage not matching the content is cringeworthy.
