Hello everyone, just about to buy a new gaming PC and this is what ive got so far. This is around £850.

Im new to PC building and dont know much.

What could i improve out of all of this. Can spend roughly another 200-300 pound extra to make it better.

P.S - I would need you to explain it a lot as i dont know much.

MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366)

Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard

Cooler Master CM690-II Lite Dominator Case & GX 750W Power Supply

G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM)

Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103UJ)

LG GH22NS50 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Thanks!

You really want to get sandybridge, its so much faster.

Triple channel RAM?

You will need triple channel RAM for that CPU.

I would recommend changing from that i7 to the 2600k so you don't have to change RAM :) The i7 is a newer version (2nd generation) and can overclock a lot more. You will also need to change the motherboard as well if you want to go i7 2600k. Everything apart from that is OK to me :)

Here is a good spec:

You could possibly add an SSD to speed up startup and also applications if you want.

Hey, do you mean the CPU and Motherboard? Was thinking of replacing them with this...

MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION **

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor [BX80623I52500K]

Would that be good and still fit in this case and work with everything else?

I have completely re-done you rspec.

Thanks a lot, all this is so confusing to me and im trying to learn.

Is there anything more better i can get as i have £1000 to spend or would it be little difference?

Thanks

Depends who you ask mate :) For me personally that would be an awesome rig and I'd rather put that money aside for components a year or so down the line. Maybe put that money towards a nice monitor or a nice chair? :)

Refering to Stulids rig? :)

If so then your right, sounds like a good plan to get a nice moniter!

I just want it ready to play battlefield 3 haha

Yeah I was referring to stulid's rig but the other rigs are equally nice :)

Well mate if you don't need the upgrade right now and you're upgrading for one game in mind then I would wait until we're closer to BF3s release. We'd know what kinda rig is needed to play it at highest settings and your £850 will simply get you more power further down the line. A monitor is always a good investment though :)

Well thank you both, this had made it a lot better for me to get one now.

Just need a little help in the right direction so i used my money well!

Thank you all!
