How Can I Increase Wireless Signal Stregth Without Changing Router

As the topic suggest without upgrading my wireless router (and keeping to a reasonable budget) how can i upgrade the signal that my computer receives. My brothers both get 5/5 signal and i get anywhere from 1-4/5. Im the only gamer and it's annoying me that there rooms are slightly close to the router and getting a lot better signal with identicle wireless cards.

Im hoping that you can buy perhaps extended antennas that fit to wireless cards, or hoping of some home made signal boosting methods using wire

Please suggest how i might improve my signal strength

what is a "HIGH GAIN" antenna, just one better at picking up signals correct?

i have a linksys router and from what i have very quickly googled it seems that my router is compatible with those DD-WRT. And they seem very good too ^^ from what i have read, might just try them

p.s. i also won a high gain 9db antenna off an auction

i got the WRT54G one. i dot the DD-WRT firmware up n running n can overclock or overvolt or wotever it is reasonably safely n this ahs helped me. Plus with a high gain antenna coming it will no doubt sort me out
