Well, not me, but my GF.

She's been given my old 3GS and has decided to jump ship from Android to iOS. Moving contacts was easy enough, but calender is proving a bit more tricky.

What's the easiest way to do it?

Don't have Outlook.

Managed it anyways, exported Google calender to an iCal file, then mailed it to her device, and she opened it and it imports everything. Job done.

I've got GMail set up through Exchange and got iCloud set up aswell.
Problem is new contacts are only added to the default account when i'd like to sync them to iCloud and Gmail :(

Out of interest how'd you move the contacts?

Used outlook or not?

In iTunes, second tab along for contacts sync, there is an option to sync to Google. Once done, turn off, then sync it to iCloud.

What he said.

Just keep your google calendar / email / contacts - iPhones support push syncing with all of them.

because she wanted it done to iCloud.

To echo what the others have said, iPhone works beautifully with Google calendar. Better than some Android devices...LOL

Well, surely the next bit is so simple it didn't need re-iterating.

Once synced with Google calendar. You flick a switch in iOS to back up to iCloud.

Do you/she need help with switching the phone on? ;-)

The posts above suggest she sticks with Google, she didn't want to do that, and by that point it was too late as she'd done the iCal trick.

As for me needing help turning the phone on, yes please.

Nah, I do both. When it comes to back ups, 1 is better than 2.

Just used iCloud to sync everything with this mac I bought yesterday. iPhone syncs with Google calendar to bridge over to my Android Galaxy Tab.

Glad you're all sorted anyway.
