How can I move a phone socket?

I want to move a BT phone socket from one room to another. BT have quoted me a competitive price of £190 to do it. Is there any sane way I can do this? Could I do it myself?

£190 sounds expensive. I bet it wouldnt cost as much to have them put in a second line if you dont want to do it yourself.

Well yeah I'm a bit unsure of that. It would be a third line. When I had the second line installed before I have a feeling the guy said he was splitting the line or something of the like, but both lines would still get full speed and be completely seperate.
Would a third line need new wiring and more importantly would it impact the quality and speed of all the lines? I've heard of people getting multiple lines and their speed being halved.

I guess I don't mind paying £127 for a new line if it means I dont have to mess about with wires and drilling holes in walls and more importantly can get it serviced if needed.

So you currently have two separate lines (separate numbers etc) and are looking to extend one of them to another room? I wonder if the engineer who installed your second line used one of the spare pairs in the existing wiring around your house, it certainly sounds like that way. The wiring is easy, the hardest part would be routing the cable neatly around your house but still, £190 is OTT.

Yes we have two seperate numbers.
Yeah theres no chance of me forking out £190. I think the engineer used an existing second line that was coming from the pole (don't ask me how or why it was there ) for the 2nd line, he would probably need to join up another wire from the pole for a 3rd connection.

I'm thinking of going with another supplier for this but most have a catch that you need to take out their internet for a year.
