How can I recover a partition on my HDD?

Today I had to reinstall Windows because it wouldn't let me in (I tried 3 system restores). I wiped my main partition to reinstall but I hope my other partition is safe?
When I try get to it with with Disk management it says 'the disk is not formatted, format now?'

Anyone know I can get my data off it? Or just restore the partition?

sounds to me like it needs converting back to basic disk. in which case you will loose your data once you convert it back to what windows can recognise.

I have a feeling your going to loose your data whatever you do.

If you can access another PC you could try plugging it in to it to see if you can read the partition
