Hi guys,

Someone in my family is not very good at using a mouse, so i hope to make a desktop shortcut execute by just pressing down on the space bar key. I have made a shortcut of a real media URL link.

Right now all my desktop shortcuts open up without needing to using a double click of the mouse, instead i somehow made all the shortcuts have an underline in them, so now all i do is make one mouse click and they open up.

Now currently when i click on these shortcuts, let's say real media one, they open up and then i right mouse click and go to full screen, then if i move the mouse cursor to the pause sign in real one media player and then press the space bar it always pauses and when i press the space bar again it resumes play. Now that was my current setup.

Now what i would like to do now is to make my real one desktop shortcut to open up and go straight into full screen mode by just pressing the space bar and then to be able to pause and resume playback by again pressing the space bar.

Please please please if anybody knows how to do this then can you please tell me as this would make life so much easier as this someone in my family really has trouble using a mouse.

Any help much appreciated

Many many thanks

Thanks for the reply

I just right clicked with my mouse on this real media url shortcut on my desktop and i clicked on properties and saw you can create a shortcut key, but you cannot use space bar or enter, so i tried the letter z but it always creates control + alt + z (or any other key)

I then pressed on those 3 keys and the real one player executes and works but just does not go into full screen. I would prefer not to have to pressed on all those 3 buttons, if i could just use space bar and do everything i described in the first post then that would be great. I may have to try macro like you said, thanks for that.

But i also wonder if there is another way to set this up, when i right clicked on the shortcut and went into properties, i also took a look at the target box, i wonder if you know if there is a way to associate full screen mode and space bar key pressing in that box?

Any help much appreciated

Many thanks

You're really want it so that if you were typing, every time you press space realplayer pops up? Because that's what would happen if you set it up the way you're saying.

uh sorry i don't mean it like that

the way i mean is if i am not in any typing program, just on my desktop no programs open. Then i would like to set it so pressing space bar will do all those functions

any ideas other than macro recorders?

Bad idea. Very bad idea. Try renaming a file containing a space after you've set your shortcut. 'Houston, we have a problem'.

If there's a disability reason for not being able to use the mouse, you might want to take a look at Windows' accessibility features and/or add-on software.
