How can i setup my pc properly, mixture of things

I'm totally confused now, i got some 3500LL ram the other day (2gb for £100, irresitable bargain) and started changing timings etc, and then my cpu decided to run at 2ghz instead of 2.2 (4400+) so i gave up and reset everything to default

what should i set everything to on my a8n-sli???
memory/cpu speed etc

maybe a little o/ced but not much its too hot in there with the 2 7800gtx 512s

Overclocking really does depend on your system, some processors overclock like dreams, others do not like it at all.

Will get this moved for you to overclocking anyway.

It sounds like you accidently decreased the CPU multiplier when you were fiddling with the timmings.

Nope didn't touch the multiplyer thats what i thought, but its locked remember!

the multipliers are only locked up, not down so it is still possible

Did you mess with the reference clock [likely to be incorrectly labelled as FSB] while messing with RAM timings?

Both RAM and CPU speeds are based on the reference clock. RAM, when not on a divider, runs at the same clock speed as the ref clock. CPU clock speed is the reference clock * CPU multi. You shouldn't attempt to change your RAM speed using the reference clock as it affects your CPU.

Locked up but not down, so in fact it is possible.
