Like firefox passwords and bookmarks, game registry info so dont have to reinstall games, codecs, etc.

Can windows file and settings transfer thing do all this from a dual booting xp 32bit to vista 64bit? Id like to move as much as i can with regards to the above as easy as possible.

I wouldn't reccomend exorting registry items out of XP and then into Vista. At then end of the day they are different operating systems. The best course of action would be to re install the games and applications.

There might be someway to export the firefox settings but I'm not sure off the top of my head.

You can export your firefox bookmarks by going to:

Bookmarks> Organise Boomkmarks> File> Export

Not sure you can do it with the passwords though...

Thanks will give it a try when vista is setup. :)

Oh and email (thunderbird), any way to transfer accounts from xp to vista, i could probably manually do it but if theres a automated process id prefer to just do that. :p

Most email programs you can export your emails by going to File > export.

not sure if this is true for Thunderbird. i haven't got it installed at the moment to check.

Games don't need their registry entries, generally. I've yet to come across a game that relied on them - they can usually be copied and pasted across without problems.

Best thing to do though is to install games to a separate partition; saves having to re-install them when you format and re-install Windows.

That is true. Although if you insert a game CD the autostart feature will not recognise that the game is installed. Not that it is much of a problem...
