I did such an upgrade earlier this year for this system in sig, but I was in the relatively rare position of having a hybrid motherboard, allowing me to upgrade for 2x2GB DDR2 to 4x2GB DDR3.
After initial issues getting the new RAM to work, I wish I had done the upgrade far sooner, not ~7 years after buying the system new!
If the motherboard has DDR2 AND DDR3 slots then it is juts a case of taking out the DD2 from it slots and putting the DDR3 into it slot. DDR2 and DDR3 have different slots design.
