Political correctness - we're all sick of it. Most of us anyway.

How can we stop it and bring back common sense into our lives?

Bit of a tall order - I imagine the trouble would be quantifying at what point something becomes actual discrimination and not a "common sense" issue. Another problem would be convincing the minorities who cry racism and discrimination that they're being a little oversensitive.

Hm, I don't think several massive think tanks could properly tackle this one.

By not using the term 'PC' every time someone stands up for their fellow man in response to racism, xenophobia, homophobia or other narrowminded attitudes - then the actual occurances of 'Political Correctness' can be reserved for when it truely is the case :)

For the record I'm against PC.

Unfortunately I'm not willing to vote BNP, so not a lot. Political correctness is certainly pathetic though. but the problem is, that it has to be enforced. Because without it you have to rely on peoples ability to 'be civil' and 'do the right thing'. And unfortunately lots of people neither have the intelligence or the capacity to see all people as equals. And so we have PC (which has now gone OTT).

Ban it in the FAQ ;)

Oh and in real life I think it may be necessary to execute the entire PCLE.

I don't think PC is any problem at all to be honest :) Just seems to be blown out of proportion to those it doesn't suit.

I think with time all the worlds stupid petty things will come to an end, unfortunately most people arnt intelligent enough and forward thinking enough to sort out the worlds problems NOW, from PC to Global Environmental situation to the ongoing onslaught of 'backward/medieval thinking' examples of which, race arguments, lack of realisation were all human, religion etc

Only after a major situation such as WW3 / other near end of human race situation will people start thinking properly

Unfortunately for people such as me who want a world where everyone works to better them selves and the human race, me and others like me will have to wait until its possibly to late, should have been born post WW3 / (start-during) an 'enlightened' point in time

:( But seriously there must be a way? Campaign for common sense? I'm certainly sick of the "wet" political correctness that stands in the way of freedom of speech, sensible discussion etc etc..

Is there more than one form? Does the beast have many faces?

Well certainly think there is a valid debate about whether state enforced "PC" policy is a limitation of freedom of speech. I find it less serious when the debate is restricted to "OMGZ they want to ban Winterval!!!1111"

giving the British people the confidence to stand up against all this crap we're force fed nowadays

if enough people dont want something to happen - it wont, but sadly only a tiny fraction of the UK population realise this :(

edit - forming a political party and taking power by force and banning anything remotely namby pamby and health and safety would be more fun i suppose :D

Well a start would be to ban any PC posters from this forum.
That is tackling the issue head on.
I have a list of people if you need it ;)

If you want to end political correctness, does that mean that you view all forms of PC are wrong?
Well not personal computers obviously.
But this sounds like one of your oh so ingenious carefully laid traps......
So let's not bother with the dance and you tell us, which forms of PC are OK?
