first post here guys be gentle :)

i bought a bundle from OC and its supposed to have been overclocked but how do i know?
it came with the CPU and also the memory sticks attached which suggests something has been done. as the original order said 2 levels of overclock upto 4ghz and the stock speed is 2.66 ive run cpz and it appears its done by about 30ghz. is there anything during the startup that will show diffinitively how much?

Your overclock will only kick in when the demand is there. try running a game like GTA4 or a heavy program you will see everything shoot up in cpuz when you do.

done a burn test at the same time using intel burn and the highest it gets to is 2698.8 i have noticed when i goto the bios settings at the startup screen its got an extra thing in there called MB intelligent tweaker( M.I.T.) and it says overclocked to 3.80ghz but it doesnt say that on CPUZ or any of the other pc settings.
if i understand what some of the posts are saying they use something called speedstep to make sure the maximum is only used when required is that correct?
in which case why?

When your in bios, hit F12 and it should bring up bios profiles. Load the OCUK profile. It will be saved in ur bios profiles.

My profile came with default profile loaded and i had to load the OCUK profile myself. I thought the same as u when i received my system until i realised the bios profile wasn't loaded.

As for speedstep. All it does is slow your cpu down when idle, but when being pushed by a burn test it should go up to the 3.8 which it is overclocked too. This is why I think you are running the wrong bios profile as you said it is only going up to 2698.8mhz.

your advice was spot on mate thanks ive done as you said and it now registers upto 3800

i have a further question for LeeKeery.
since applying those settings my pc has taken longer to start and close down.
after ive selected and loaded the OCUK profile ive just saved and exited am i supposed to save to CMOS or BIOS or something else rather than just F10 save and exit?
