How close can coolant hose be to the exhaust?

I have tried googling & got nowhere so thought I'd ask opinions here.

I have an almost finished engine conversion but have been unable to avoid running the hose that feeds the heater matrix from the engine rather close to where the exhaust manifold meets the yet to be fitted downpipe.

I am using standard rubber coolant hose, is this likely to withstand being 1.5 inches away from the exhaust or is it likely to end up with a major coolant leak?

Should be fine, the coolant might get a bit of heat from it but I'd have thought that'd be all really, if it's not rubbing it'll be ok. As has been said, as it isn't turbo charged or highly tuned then you'll not be getting ridiculous heat from the exhaust system.
Wrapping it is probably a sensible caution and should remove engine bay heat in general too anyway.
