Basically, i need to create a map (digitally) that can be shared or accessed by a lot of people. The map would be of the town i'm living in and i want to be able to mark out where everyone i know will be living next year. As we're all moving house, and theres about at least 50 people i got to keep track of.

Not sure if such a thing exists, it would ideally just have a street-map of the town and would display dots all around where houses are marked out, and then when you hover the mouse over it tells you whos living there. Or maybe just have the dots numbered out and a list underneath of the names of people in that numbered house.

It would be easy enough to get a real fold-out map and pin notes to it but i need a map that i can duplicate easily and give to other people so something online or on a file would be best.

Any ideas?

I think so, a quick fiddle reveals that you can save lists of places, which are stored as lattitude and longitude.

Plus you can see the whole world!

was featured on radio2's steve write show last week, miles was suggesting that you can put little pins in places of interest like local pubs etc, and share the map with friends, everyone at the time thought he was crazy and the idea was stupid.... seems to be what your looking for though. not used it myself so hope its ok.

edit: looks like it uses google maps but adds the features you are looking for
Looks like they use that frappr/google maps thing

And it does go down to street level so i'm going to try it

Actually, anywhere that can do it by postcode?

frappr makes me have to look around some little window map and click roughly where i want my pointer to be
