How dangerous is Glasgow

I see your list and add.......

Possilpark
Shettleston
Springburn
Sighthill
Barmulloch
Govan
Toryglen
Parkhead
Townhead
Pollok
Bridgeton

But seriously.......You'll be fine. As most people have said, like any city, it has its problems but most of the people and places are fine! :)

And you miss out Ibrox?!?!

I live in Pollok. One half is alright, the other is basically Beruit. But it's calmed down a lot since they took down all the flats.

Try to avoid all the places listed above and you should be fine, I live in one of the fancier parts outside glasgow and its still got a few idiots about, you can't avoid them tbh. I wouldn't be put off by all the crime statistics though.

Glasgow is ok, i stay in Castlemilk though, a rather posh area, so i tend to stay away from the riff-raff.

Seriously though aslong as you stay away from the neds and stuff you will be fine.

It's because glasgow is infamous for knife crime and drunken violence, knife capital of europe I think, makes you proud :p......:(

I bet the actual statistics are not so dramatic though, that's just media spin. It's like Nottingham being "gangster gun crime capital of the UK". I go out there all the time, never seen any trouble. If you look for trouble you'll get it.

HOMICIDE FIGURES

¿ Figures for 2002 showed that Glasgow had a homicide rate of 58.7 people per million of population, the highest rate of any city in western Europe. Belfast was on 55.9, Madrid on 18.4, Paris on 20, London on 26, Amsterdam on 31.3 and Dublin on 18.8

¿ Only Baltic cities such as Vilnius in Lithuania (89) had a higher rate, along with New York (86.5) and Washington (428.7) and Moscow (183.8)

¿ Aberdeen was the second most dangerous city in Scotland, with an average of 21.9 killings per million while Dundee had 15.9 victims and Edinburgh was safest with just 15.6 fatalities

That was 2003, hardly "OMG I'm not going to Glasgow " stats

It's an excellent city to live in, been here 3 and a half years and love it. I'd imagine if you looked closely at the knife crime statistics you would find a tiny percentage of them occur in the city centre where you'll spend most, if not all, of your time.

the only rule to abide by is drink real irn bru while there, if you drink diet irn bru you will be branded a poofter and chibbed

I will have to clean my monitor after reading this as i laughed out loud while drinking my latte an spat it over the screen:o

I find it best to avoid Scotland, just in case. I have just the right amount of holes in my body and don't want some wirey, incomprehensible lunatic in a shell suit to make any more for me.

That's a bit narrow minded, isn't it? I've easily had more problems with chavs in England than I have in the past four years living in Scotland.
