Im interested as to how all you people managed to get into the job you are at now? I got my first job by applying through the company website as a user support call handler, I remember sending my CV into the company on a Thursday afternoon and received a call from the company within the next hour requesting for an interview the next day before I starting on the following Monday :D 6 months later I left the company and started accountancy and got the job by applying direct from a newspaper advert! Finally decided to move out of my comfort zone and got a job in the city thanks to the agency who spotted my CV on monster :D

I do remember how my local power station would rarely advertise their jobs and most of the my mates who got a job there was via their parents who were already working there :(

I signed up with the local college's apprenticeship scheme. They sent me off to one school for an interview, but I didn't get the job. Then without telling me sent my details to another and I ended up with a letter inviting me for an interview on the day I was supposed to be going to a university open day. Decided to skip the open day, went to the interview, which went quite well. As I got through the door about an hour later, my phone rang and I was offered the job :)

Went to school - did well

Went to college - did well

Went to uni - did well

Met my first boss at a recruitment fair and was recruited on the spot, now working for a different company but same sort of thing, met him for an interview and was offered the job pretty much straight away.

Didn't know what to do once I finished my BSc in Physics, so went on to do a MSc Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors, and sort of fell into the nuclear industry, almost by accident really, though I am glad I did.

Saw a job advertised on window at local agency, email CV, went for 2 interviews with employer and was offered a job.
(This is the very first time I got offered anything through an agency, I normally think they are a waste of time).

I was on a YTS, training to be a butcher....great job but very cold all the time.

I saw an advert in our local paper for a Service Technician and a qualification in Electronics was required, i applied and got the job, then started a week later.

went to college and did a City and Guilds for 3 years, then did a ONC for 3 years in two unrelated subjects.

Here i am now as a Technical advisor for the same company.....bored as can possibly be but with a very cushy job.

Last job: After finishing college in May 07 I was on the lookout for an IT Job, then in Oct 07 my GF randomly told me that I should just email her college & her previous high school to see if there was any jobs, which I did. 2 days later I got an email back from the high school saying they would like me to come in & meet them. Went down there on the day & said they would like to give me the job and all being well I would have the job as long as it was alright with the head teacher. The next week had an second interview with the Head Teacher & got the job :)

Current Job: Unfortunately I got made redundant from the school job in Aug 08, then my father gave me a job at his Logistics company in Sept 08. Still working there now.
