How different are XP and Vista?

Can someone tell me the main differences? I have always thought that Vista used the memory far better?

To be honest in terms of 'main differences' there aren't really that many bar things like UAC and Direct X10.

It's the small differences behind the scenes that make up most the differences. Vista is an evolution of XP so it has everything XP had but better.

Other than that (and the tacky GUI) Vista is a lot like XP.

Visually, or the underlying technology...

Despite what many people say, there aren't that many similarities in the deep stuff between vista and XP. Just off the top of my head, a completely redesigned graphics renderer, sound stack, networking stack, permissions setup, printer subsystem, etc etc....

Vista took the best part of 5 years to develop and under the bonnet is nowhere near like XP. Only similarity is the way it drives.
