How do cut things out?

Hey, how do i cut people out of pictres :rolleyes:

Im wanting to cut hendrix out and put him onto anothjer background im going to make to practice, onmly i cant work out how to do it. I tried using the magic wand tool to get rid of everything outside of him, but it only gets rid of certain things =/
 
use the pen tool to create a vector around the outline which you can easily modify, and then convert that to a selection.

do a google for the pen tool if you've never used it before.

Only just started using photoshop cs today

Pen tool - i know what that is
vector - eh?

Ive cut out hendrix now, i just cant think what to do for a background, trying to make a simple idea but cant think of anything

any ideas :S?
 
a guitar fretboard, or do you mean something within ps :p

Ok so heres one i did, took me 30minutes, i KNOW i could spend more and make it look better,but its the first thing i have ever edited. What you think?

I wanted to put him on like a desert/country background, i then did some edit's to the background.


Then just make hisguitar look kool :p

How do i make it so its less obvious he isnt there? E.g around the arms/fro etc, i tried bluring
