How do i backup my windows live E-mail ??

I need to format my C: drive to install a new motherboard/cpu.

How do i backup my windows live e-mail so i can restore after my format ??
Am running windows 7 HP 64bit retail..

Surely it won't go anywhere, all being hosted and stored at Windows Live?

Window live mail is stored on the PC

It was easy to backup in the end

Just went to the arrow TAB at top left corner and then choose export e-mail messages

Windows live mail keeps a copy of downloaded/viewed to your pc.

They also remain on your email account on a server anyway, so reinstalling will allow you to just re-download the emails anyway, no real need to download/export them.

This may be true for web based mail like Hotmail, but for normal POP3 accounts, unless you have specified retaining the mail after retrieval, the only copy of your email will be on your PC. Therefore a backup is essential.

As Windows 7 doesn't include an email client many people will be using it for their ISP's email and may be lead into a false sense of security thinking their email is safely kept on a server.
