Got some new plates for the boxster :D

Anyways, they were delivered this morning, and am starting to work out how to fix them to the car . . . . .

The plate at the moment is held on with adhesive tabs, and thats what I would like to use to hold the new plate in place too.

I have noticed that the old plate has a very slight curve in it, which allows it to mould to the front bumper much better. How can I get a curve in my new plate ? ? ? Any ideas ? At the moment I have it on a radiator, and then will try and hold it curved overnight . . . . . but I have a feeling this wont work

Any ideas ?

Thanks

M

I used sticky pads to hold mine on which is also bent across the front bumper. I just pushed it in place and its fine, I didnt heat it up.

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but theres no point in making a new one :p

I purchased two new number plates yesterday because my old ones were knackered due to water ingress..

I've stuck them on this morning using " Sellotape Sticky Fixers " 4 on the back... 6 on the front..

Are these strong enough or will they come off ? I'm not sure if they are weather proof either !

I got some sticky thingies from Demonplates when I ordered mine. They have been over for over a month of VTEC (y0). The front one had some burring on the plastic where the original was screw mounted which I couldn't remove safely so they plates aren't exactly sat flush to the bumper either.

There are 3 on each end and a quick tug on the plates doesn't seem to move them.

Has anyone else used the ones from cheapest plates? Seeing as the plates were so cheap I wasn't sure whether the pads would be any good? Going to fit them this afternoon and I have 4 pads in total althought they are quite large (approx 1 inch wide and 4 inches long).

Thanks in advance.

I got a pack of 12 sticky number plate pads from ebay when i got a new plate and its fine. Just make sure to clean both areas with some Isopropyl alcohol first to make sure theres no grease or dirt present.

Ahh, forgot about this thread :p

The ones I got from the motorfactors were like that, I stuck 4 on each plate, two would have been sufficient though I think.. :o

When you fit the plates, stick one side down, then push your hand firmly across to the other side, nothing worse than plates with gaps behind them :)
