Is there a free application that can block certain websites? We have a facebook, bebo, faceparty, myspace whore at work and its getting beyond a joke. Could do with a small free application that can be installed on two machines that will block these frikkin sites, preferrably without an obvious name, I can remove the short cuts from the menus which will sufficient to hide it, but just incase they look in the Control Panel it'd be better not to see *WEBSITE BLOCKER v2.0!!* or the like. ;)

Any recomendations would be nice, dont really wanna get involved with having IT come in as it'll mean blocking internet access for everyone which isnt fair because of one abuser of privilages.

Thanks.

Only way without installing additional software is blocking the sites within active directory/group policy for that user.

This is on the server of course so you may have to get IT involved.

Unless you have the passwords and know what you are doing.

block them in the hosts file on those pc's

remember to block the ip address and the facebook.com url, google "hosts file block website"

ask the IT team how to do it for those sites, i'm sure they don't want facebook blocked

If they are not computer literate then hosts file will be fine but will not stop them using proxies and accessing the site by IP addresses.

ok thanks will look into host files, the persons in question wouldnt have a clue what a proxy was (the usage of the web says it all) let alone how to use a proxy/proxy site.

re: opendns - the network adapter ip can be found via ipconfig in cmd?
