How do i check if there is power

Hi there,

I need to check whether my logitech mx1000 mouse power supply is supplying power.

I have a multimeter but i havent a aclue which setting it sould be on.

The output of the power supply is rates at +8B 500mA.

what setting should i have the multimeter on?

You should set your meter to DC Volts
Symbol is a flat line at top , 3 dots below with a V below that

Ok i see that i have a few different settings.

Should i set it to 200m,2,20,200 or 1000

Im guessing either 2 or 20 but i dont know which one?

20 , would be correct the number denotes the max reading for that scale
ie it will measure from 0 to 20 volts on that range
