I am on a uni network. and the network will only allow me on the net via my PC's Mac address, is there any way to clear my mac address from the network so i can use a diffrent computer to sign in

thanks.

If you leave everything disconnected for a few hours it may allow a different MAC address to connect.

Otherwise look in the settings for the network card, you can probably assign the MAC address of the old computer (if you know it) to the new one. It shouldn’t cause a problem unless you connect both machines to the same network at the same time.

If i understand you properly, your uni only allows one MAC to be registered per person or per port, my Uni had a similiar system.

You can either email your network admins and ask if you can use a different MAC address or have 2 assigned to your account.

Alternatively you can change a NIC MAC address using software, so on the new PC set it to spoof the original PCs MAC address.

I have resolved my problem.

I didnt have a router with clone MAC address and wanted to connect 2 PC's and my xbox up and figured i would need to use my PC's MAC or reset it so i could use the router to allow connection to the other devices.

I have just that i could change the MAC on the router... although it was well hidden (poo sitecom) ...it is a silly thing to have 1 mac address registered to one account on a network, incase u change laptop or computer.

Thanks for the help anyhows
=)
