How do I connect up my old 5.1 system?

Hi all, I have an old analogue 5.1 sound system from my computer (Videologic ZXR-550) and wish to hook it up to my xbox 360 to have surround in games and also in DVD's, of course the xbox only seems to have a optical out for surround sound --- best and cheapest way of making it work ? need ideas, some sort of amp or is there a gadget that just does it and does that only thus making it cheaper?

The output from the Xbox will no doubt be PCM or somesort of raw dolby digital signal, so in order to convert it to anoluge you will need a box of tricks (if such a thing exists).

Are the speakers standard connectors? If so it might be easier to get a new amp.

All current games consoles output in Dolby Digital, so you'll need a decoder somewhere along the line.
