it's usually done by the laser cutter who cuts the piece in the first place. The problem you have is the piece of already anodised black, and using fine sand paper you run the risk of showing the bare aluminium underneath.
really brushed aluminium such as those say found on zippo lighters or does he mean just paint to look like it . either way i wouldnt do it to be honest ... unless its just something u want to try as itll probably void warranty or something daft like that
Yeh, im sure ive seen some in a stationary/hobby/craft type shop, stick on vynal sheet, simmilar stuff to what they use for car graphics.
pretty sure you can get wood grain affect, chrome and other finishes also.
