Bascically have some music, a few albumns that I bought from iTunes store. Problem is I'v reached my maximum limit on auterised computer, all 5 have been taken up.

The thing it, these 5 computers are the same, it's just I have reformated my PC 5 times, and forget toautherise my PC before format.

Anyway, it;s only £40 but is theere anyway to reset the counter, to deautherise all PCs from my account without having access to the 'PC's? Cheers.

You might find that you're able to deauthorise the computer multiple times by choosing the deauthorise option on the menu more than once - this has sometimes worked for me when I have several authorisations on the same computer.

Alternatively, you should get (under your account options) a button to deauthorise all computers which can be used once a year. It will only appear when all 5 authorisations have been used, so it's worth a look if that's the problem.

Finally, if it's not there, send a message to iTunes support. If it's the first time this has happened they'll probably be willing to deauthorise the other "computers" for you. (Certainly they did for me a year or so ago, with a warning that they probably wouldn't do it again so be careful!)

Obviously in the future make sure you deauthorise your computer each time before you reinstall.

Thanks mate, I used to option under my account.

It's pretty bad really, I pay for music instead of torrenting it and apple make it so hard for me to keep my purchased. A little help from them would have been nice seeing as I choose to purchase form them and not rip them off. Get it's the honest guys that get the crap really. :(

Yah... you shouldn't pay for music until they're being fair about it, IMO. It's far too restricting, and the only way they will change that will be either:

- If consumers don't buy it, they'll realise they need to change to make money

- Someone manages to win a lawsuit about it (doubtful)

- Some government body takes interest in it's restrictiveness

 I hate greed in big companies. Thing is, it's not Apple, etc - it's the record labels who say to Apple "We'll let you sell it if you restrict it".

They aren't exactly making it hard for you though.
Firstly, you could have got this answer from Apple's site in around 2 minutes.
(Seriously, I had the same question a few months ago and it isn't difficult to find the answer).
They allow you to have five devices authorised at any one time.
Only when you get to this number five does it cause any issue and then you do your "yearly without the need to contact Apple" total reset.

If it took weeks to sort out I could understand.
But as it literally takes minutes is it really that much hassle?

I emailed the iTunes support and they kindly deauthorised all my machines for me, despite not technically being allowed to for another 8 months or something. You can just explain your circumstances and they are quite good..
