How do I dial this US number from UK?

I am trying to access my work share portfolio but the website is telling me I need to call the following number to activate my account:

+1 (732) 512-3172

Do I need to stick a 00 in front and in which case do I need the 1 as well?

would it not have been easier to have just picked up the phone and tried it than generating a thread on OcUK?

(not trying to have a go or anything - just curious)

I did try it, even my leet Google skills failed in finding a correct answer I'm not *quite* sad enough to not even try before asking the random loons in GD!
