I've got a Dell XPS L702x and every now and again I catch the touchpad while typing and it moves the cursor without me wanting to - which is really annoying!

Now there is an "Fn" button (function??) thats orange and on the F3 key there is a picture of the touchpad with an "X" over it, which I would assume would disable the touchpad!?!?!

Trouble is, when I press it, all it seems to do is turn on and off a small orange light at the top of the touchpad...... but either option doesnt actually turn the thing off!?!?!?

Any ideas??

Cant see anything in the mouse options - I'm really wondering if its a driver issue - ie. the driver to switch the touchpad off isnt working/installed!?!?

Have you got the Synaptics touchpad driver installed? The F3 function on mine does disable the trackpad - an orange light appears to indicate this. Also in the Synaptics driver settings under Pointing > Sensitivity there is a feature called TouchCheck which detects accidental contact while typing.

I cant see anything in my control panel about Synaptics!?!? Where would I get it from?

I just assumed because it worked, it was all installed correctly!

*edit* nevermind, found it on the Dell website and its worked a treat! - Thanks guys!
