How do i edit the firefox custom dictionary?

I keep clicking add when i right click to change a word by mistake so i've got a selection of messed up words in my firefox dictionary.
I found the dictionary but its just a massive text document with no spaces and looking through it all would take me days.

Is there a custom dictionary bit like there is with word so i can see what i've added and remove the rubbish?

Edit: It doesn't recognise the word firefox.

the file you found.... was it persdict.dat? just open the file in wordpad and edit it so each word is on it's own line. that's it....

You mean you tried to edit the custom dictionary (which lives at %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random letters]\persdict.dat), or the original one?

Because it isn't Firefox's dictionary.

Firefox just use someone else's (which is why only the en-US dictionary is distributed).

The only dictionary i can find is this one:

C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\n09zn52o.default\extensions\[email protected]\dictionaries

Presumably this isn't the custom one, is there a separate custom one?

It would take me forever to edit it all so i could actually read it, and anyway by the sounds of it there a separate one for custom words.

Edit: I've found it, for some reason creative mediasource thinks its a media file so it puts its logo on it, thats why i didn't spot it before.

Can i just edit it as i please? Do i have to make sure its got these little square things between each word?

You didn't say anything about the little squares.

I can just ignore/delete them then, when i put everything onto a new line?

Open it in Wordpad, and there shouldn't be any squares.

there are no little squares in wordpad. i think you're using notepad....

These are the words i seem to have accidentally added:
roumour
specimin
industrues
gettign
lanuch
posibility

Its the result of having a rubbish keyboard and an uncomfortable mouse... i keep making typos and accidentally adding them to the dictionary.

Edit: I presume firefox has to be restarted for this to take effect? None of the words above which i've just removed from the custom dictionary are being marked as wrong yet.
