How do I find out the IP of a Device?

Hi all,

I have a device (a modem) connected by ethernet via NIC that I am trying to find out the IP of (the modem, not the NIC). I switch everthing on and thought that i could just 'IPCONFIG /ALL' in msDOS to give me the IP. But it only shows my NIC ip and not the ip of the modem?

Is the IP address on your PC assigned by the modem, if so the modems IP address will probably be the same as the default gateway address.
