How do I find out what type ram I have?

Not the size but the type etc. Is there I program that I can download that can tell me?

and the spd tab...should give details on the manufacturer.

Found out that my laptop memory is DDR PC2700 166mhz, however no where seems to sell this anymore? I can only find DDR SODIMM PC2700 333MHz. Will this work? Will it just be stepped down from 333 to 166? I havent a clue!

Its the same stuff, just described differently. DDR reads on both sides of the cycles so 166x2= 333.

So in answer to your question, yes it will work, it will match the memory you already have.
