How do I fix this??

On a 64 bit machine this is usually caused by ram being faulty or on the wrong timings.

On your machine it's probably because you're running 32 bit Windows and can't use more than 3Gb + Video Ram anyway. Only 4Gb in total is addressable by 32 bit Windows. Your ram could still be faulty so look into that with Windows Memory Diagnostic or Memtest.

However, you're a bit of a bufty for using 32 bit Windows with that equipment. You would normally use 64 bit Windows with such a powerful CPU and 6Gb of Ram.

thanks for your reply

but it wasnt there like a year ago when I set it up...

I'll run memtest and see what that says

Good idea but what I'm telling you about the limit is a fact. You've never been using more than half of your 6Gb under a 32 bit OS.

Some power users prefer a 64-bit version of Windows. There’s no mystery there. A computer with a 64-bit version of Windows can use more memory—4 GB (gigabytes) or more—than a PC with a 32-bit version of Windows, which is limited to about 3.5 GB or less. (Even if a PC comes with 4 GB or more of memory installed, a 32-bit version of Windows can only use about 3.5 GB of that memory.)

It's because in a 32 bit OS, your PC can only address 2^32 bits of memory. This works out to be a bit less than 4GB, and as that includes GPU memory too, it's another limiting factor.

Make sure you do not use a 32-bit (x86) OS and instead use a 64-bit (x64) OS.

Very few reasons to stick with a 32bit OS these days. Compatability was an issue in XP but now almost everyone has support for 64bit and some even have 64bit versions.

i had the same problem years ago with a q6600 asus pq5 pro and 8 gig of Ocz reaper, problem was solved as soon as i installed the 64bit Os :)
i wouldnt of even noticed at the time if hadnt done a clean install :s
