Hi all, as the title says really.

I've ordered a FX6300 to replace my current CPU. On the ASUS website it says there's a newer version out that'll support my new chip (bios 1502) how do I flash it safely and easily?

My motherboards an M5A88-V Evo.

Thanks!

Hello

Asus usually have their own little utility that allows you to flash from desktop. Just download the new bios then start the utility. It'll identify the cirrent version then you can point it to the new version and flash it.
If the utility didn't come with the motherboard disk it should also be available in the downloads section where the bios are.
People may argue it's not the safest way, but I've done it plenty of times from desktop and (touch wood) never had a problem.

Do not use the Asus desktop utility!! Download the bios to a usb stick, boot the computer and hit Alt + F2 (or access it from the tools page of the bios) and use EZ Flash to update.

Hi, the Asus Update utility isn't available on the download section for my board so that was a no go.

I downloaded the file and used the Alt + F2 method above with a USB stick. All done, very quick and easy.

Thanks all.
