Actually, it's my mate's but I'm getting the E6600 on Monday as welll and just want to make sure that i don't run into the same issue.

He can only "see" one core working when in TaskManager. Does the second core need to be activared?

Just check your BIOS just in case you may need to update, it should auto detect on windows.

Have you set the task manger to read both cores? If you havnt open up the task manager, click the 'performance' tab, then click on 'view' at the top, click on 'CPU history', then click on 'One graph per CPU.' You probably have already done this but you never know... :)

Thanks, we're going through the BIOS now. Problem is, he is very new to all of this and I don't want him to brick the mobo if the bios flush fails. We're looking for ways to make it as painless as possible

Actually, i haven't, will try now. Thanks for suggestion!

Sorry for the hijack but i'm having the same problem viewing both of my cores in task manager.

Both of the cores show up on device manager but not on task manager.
I've done what vortX mentioned going to view then cpu history etc, but it still wouldn't show the second core.

I've added a pic to show what i'm seeing in the task manager, is this normal??
