as title, I have a system that has a device installed (driver installed) and working ok, i have another system that no-one can locate the driver for etc, incase I cant locate the driver quickly what could I do to get the other machine working with the same device from *** existing system that is ok??,

Search in \Windows\Inf for the file which contains the device's name. Copy the inf to floppy disk and install driver from there. It'll probably ask for you files, and it's a case of shuffling the disk between the machines.

Done it before...it's a pain. But it works.

I kinda thought that might work , the device is a small receipt printer. My problem is at the work location I am at they dont give us Internet access, I have got some potential drivers by doing it in my own time at home (grr) but I want to have all angles covered etc.......many many thanks guys.

Alternatively, look at the peice of hardware, look for a P/N or chip number that you can type into Google.

Click search and 9 times out of 10 it finds the device and a driver for it. Tried the manufactures website?

yes I tried the manuf website etc, I did take some potentials in and the first one worked.......... :=) , the driver backup software is a good idea , never dawned on me ...............thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated
