How do i get full speed with my wireless?

Hi, i have a dgn2000 netgear router and my desktop has a wpn111 usb adapter however when im connected to the network the speed it is connected is 54Mbps as shown below:

The router is set up for b&g connections and the adapter should connect at 108Mbps, so why is it not using the fastest speed? DO i have to use the netgear wireless software?

Whilst on the subject what security would i have to use for n-draft speeds?

LOL, how did you find that? I tried to block all of them! Its a joke within our house and thought it mite offend some people so tried to edit it out! Obv not good enough! Ok thanks. I was using Wireless Station Access List so pretty secure! Does WPA2 support this?

edit: ah found the one which slipped thru!

Yeah it does just use MAC addresses! Oh ok i thought that would be quite secure! WPA2 it is then!

i thought:
b - 54Mbps
g - 108Mbps
n - 270Mbps
Is that not right?

I know im not on n speeds, havnt bought an adaptor for this router yet.

Oh ok. Back at my parents house they use this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-025-NG&groupid=595&catid=669&subcat= and i think i was getting 108Mbps there. I just assumed that i would get the same with this new one if i wasnt using n. Looks like im wrong! Gona have to splash out the 40 odd quid for a n adaptor then!
