how do i get my games console to play on my monitor?

i used the old windows media classic to get this. what other ways is ther?

Try a program called DScaler.
Definitely DScaler and VLC might be worth a look.
I thought you couldn't avoid a laggy image due to the time delay between the console outputing what would normally be seen straight away but it is then being converted by the graphics card and what ever happens in the frame buffer

My experience with trying to play a console with an imagine through video card is a horrible picture and lots of lag. Have never found a good way around it - a VGA box for the monitor has turned out no better for me. The only way I've been able to play consoles using a monitor is for the Dreamcast and XBOX 360, using the genuine VGA output from them.
