How do I get SSL working in SABnzbd using Astraweb?

I'm currently using port 119 but when I tick the SSL box in SABnzbd it fails to download.

You are using the wrong port and probably wrong server.
Make sure you are using
eu.secure.news.astraweb.com for server and port 443 making sure SSL is checked

Sorry to bring this up, but ive just setup the same as above and iam having issues with SSL.

once I signed up I got a list of severs...

General Server:
European Server:
US Server:

Tried the general and European with all the differant port no. but I cant get SSL to work. SABnzbd works fine when I disable SSL

Ah right, cheers. Now can I setup SABnzbd on my mac and setup downloads onto my PC?

Easily. In the Config -> General tab,
SABnzbd Host: 0.0.0.0
Port: 8080

Set a web server username and password. You could, if you wanted, turn on SSL but that's only to encrypt the data between (in this case) your PC and your mac. Unless you're forwarding ports to SABnzbd to allow control from out & about I don't see much point in using SSL for that connection.

You're probably wise to set a static IP address on the mac. Let's suppose you set 192.168.1.220 as the mac address, on your PC or smartphone you could point the browser at http://192.168.1.220:8080/ , log in and away you go!

Thanks for all the help mate. Any other handy things I should know about?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/nzbdstatus/

I know most people are using Chrome these days, but this is a very handy little tool - allows you to pause/resume from any machine, and nicely links into Newzbin or binsearch (so literally one-click downloads).

I'm fairly sure there are similar plugins for Chrome or Safari but since I use neither browser I haven't searched :)

Other than that, have a play with the config on SAB - I have the scheduler set so that it downloads outside of peak hours; keeps things snappy for me when I want to browse or game. Plus it's kinder on my ISP (OK sure they sell unlimited but, hey, that won't last if everyone batters it 6pm-11pm)

Turned PC on this morning, and trying to open the sabnzbd web page to login. But its not working iam using the address: http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/ and each time Chrome shows up...

Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to localhost:8080
Suggestions:
Try reloading: localhost:*8080/*sabnzbd/*
