My Macbook hard drive has just died, I won't go on a rant about angry and upset I am, I just want to know how to get the damn thing repaired.

I can't find any sort of phone number or form on the Apple website so someone will come and pick up my laptop and fix it. Maybe I'm just blinded by rage.

Help anyone? Thanks.

There's an Applecare number somewhere, you should have it somewhere :)

Maybe it's time to invest in a USB HDD for mirroring your MB? That's what i've just done :)

I don't have a number anywhere and I don't have AppleCare... just the default 12 month limited warranty.

And yes, I'll be getting a USB drive as soon as money permits.

I'm not sure if there are any Apple Stores on the moon, but select your nearest store here and make a reservation at the genius bar via the concierge service.

I can't seem to find any phone numbers on the Apple website , i don't have my manuals at hand but i'm pretty sure the numbers are in there should you have any problems.

Buy extended Applecare warranty on the web, wait a couple of days and then report a fault? (It's what I did with my iPod when its HD failed 1 weeks after warranty).

Also, I didn't even think the Macbooks had been out for a year so you should still be covered in any case surely?

It doesnt have to be an Apple store though, it can be an Apple Authorised reseller (such as Scotsys). You can check if you puy your serial number in this web form:

http://www.apple.com/uk/support/

You may also find the following web page useful, it has links to a list of authorised repairers and a phone number:

http://www.apple.com/support/diy/orderoffline/

If push comes to shove, and you're feeling a bit daring you could always buy a 2.5" drive and fit it yourself

I think they are a foreign call centre type place though, so might take a while to get where you want to go.

Gawd, that was harder than it needed to be. Turns out there's a place in town who'll order me a new hard drive under warranty. That call centre was bloody awful, everything took twice as long because we had to keep repeating everything.
