How do i hibernate a PC ?

from start and shutdown there is no option to hibernate just standby.

hibernate works if i press the power button or leave it idle for x minutes, but there is no button i can click on to hibernate a pc.

Just want to hiberate a PC which i normally access remotely.

thanks

edit : nevermind found out i have to hold down shift ! not very obvious is it !

Click Start -> Shutdown

When have option for shutdown, restart, logoff hold Shift and Shutdown will change to hibernate

OcUK = learn something new everyday :rolleyes:

Though on one notebook I've seen the Hibernate option/button on its own, i.e. Hibernate, Stand By, Turn Off and Restart :confused:

EDIT: On mine, Stand By changes to Hibernate when you hold shift key just to let you know :)

Hmm, although my laptop is ACPI compatible, and can't hibernate. The Hibernate tab just doesnt appear in the power options. I have the latest BIOS and GFX drivers.

Any suggestions ?

hold left shift..

i set my laptop to 'do nothing' on close lid, and to hibernate after 5 mins when on batt power, or hibernate on power button
