As per title really, does anybody know how this works? Should the V5 mention anything about the private plate thats on the car to ensure they match?

Thanks, Russ

^oooh ive been looking into celica tsports, i presume from your sig you own one? if so, any opinion on them as a car?

You need the current plate, V5 serial number and V5 issue date to do a complete check. This will tell you how many plates have been on the car, when they were transfered and what they were.

did own one, sold it when i got a company car.

Awesome fun mate, fully reccomend them, handling is superb, power delivery when it comes on cam is great fun, and the noise is cracking too! Not as common as Civic Tyoe Rs, and better spec'd too.

loved it and miss it each day

reg no tells about previous plate, finance and whether the car has been written off.

But if you have the v5 document number, mileage, v5 document issue date and (i think) the VIN number then the HPI check through the RAC will guarantee the mileage

Good register checkers will track reg number to VIN number and then do check on that to find any previous reg numbers and time periods they were on the car, then check each time period for each plate in relation to the car. Complicated and likely to miss something!
